| Introduction: Muslims, like Christians and Jews, affirm that Satan is man's avowed enemy. In addition, virtually all Muslim preachers condemn witchcraft. How then, can so many Muslims resort to occultists? According to one Muslim blogger, “One need only walk down the streets of Pakistan or Egypt to see this ... on every other corner sits some fortune teller or other occultist.” Another web writer warns his fellow Muslims against resorting to practitioners of witchcraft, “We should not be deceived by the fact that they may get things right sometimes, or by the fact that many people go to them ... they are ignorant and the people should not be deceived by them.” |

Our regular monthly meetings usually on the second Sunday of the month after the morning service at church have been going. We are a small nucleus of a group but all great beginnings are small so one is told. We share about our experiences and plan ahead.

With the New Year we are looking forward to the great opportunity for starting the outreach. A small nucleus of people met in the later half of January as our first initial Outreach team meeting. Great beginnings are often small and so I looked around a group that was keen and dedicated to the task. What an encouragement. |

It was Sunday evening. Around the round wooden table with coffee and home made biscuits we waited for the senior pastor to join us. “How do you establish a Muslim Outreach Team” was on the agenda. The real challenge for this church is that they are in an area where Muslim do not exist in great numbers and don't stick out very much. Nevertheless on a new construction site in the nearby industrial area a Mosque is being build. It is claimed that this Mosque will be the biggest in the southern hemisphere and will host a primary and secondary school for boys and a training centre and college for Muslim clergy and tablighies (Missionaries).

Recent events have prompted me to set out and write a series of entries about how to start and maintain an outreach team in a local church. Because this is a public blog I will leave out names and places or have the liberty to change them. What is this column all about? Well I like to share the story of how an outreach team came into being. the story is not finished but it is developing as I type these lines. I have no idea where this is going and how long this will run but it might be interesting to some others. I have no idea how often I will write. Let me not commit to too much. Let's rather see where this is taking us. Well with this explanation up front it is time to begin.

With Testimonies of prominent players like Lucio, Kaka, Ricardo Katza plus short articles, a clear gospel presentation a commitment page and other useful information this is a ‘mini’ package with a big impact. You can get it from Campus Media or from us. Drop us a note if you are interested.

The Bible is still the best tool for bringing the message of salvation to a Muslim. Based on this tenent a new tract series has been launched that use key passages from the Bible and render it in a way that one can easily follow. The tracts are availabe as a pdf download and are layed out on one A4 size page. this makes it easy to run your own and share them where you are with people who are interested. Download the tracts from the CCM web site. The stories cover topics like:
- Death and grief
- Eternal life
- Sacrifice
- Passover Lamb
- The return of the King

Peeping over ones own fence
When we expect church members to reach out to ordinary Muslims with the Gospel should we not expect from Pastors likewise to reach out to Muslim Imams and leaders?

Well, so what happened with this plan of action?
First we got the interviews prepared and set a date for that to happen. In the mean time I had written a document that would help us and the Muslims to prepare for the event and spell out all the details of the engagement. Not only the when, where but also the how and the rules of engagement where spelled out including principles of video and recording the event.

While at a beachfront Fan-park I was surprised when a Muslim family, thinking I was a visitor from overseas, initiated a friendly conversation. We talked for 10 minutes... I appreciated Ibrahim for his open hearted welcome and offered him a booklet entitled 'Peace & Hospitality'. Before we parted, Ibrahim invited me to visit his home and gave me his phone number.
